Maharashtra Assembly Polls: NCP out with 1st candidates' list; Mundes, Kshirsagars to face off
Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) supremo Sharad Pawar announced five names in the first list of his party candidates for the upcoming assembly elections scheduled in October-November.
The list pitches Leader of Opposition in Upper House and NCP MLC Dhananjay Munde against his sister and BJP minister Pankaja Munde in Parli constituency, Sandeep Kshirsagar against his uncle – Shiv Sena minister and ex-NCP MLA Jaydutt Kshirsagar in Beed, among others.
Pawar, who is on a state tour, was in Beed on Wednesday where he had a meeting with senior party leaders and decided to announce the five NCP candidates' name.
Vijay Singh Pandit from Gevrahi, Prakash Salunkhe from Mazalgaon and Namita Mundada from Kej will be on the ballot. Dhananjay Munde had lost the election to his sister in 2014.
The Shiv Sena and the BJP had poached the 29 NCP and Congress leaders including sitting MLAs.
