Meghalaya CM urges people to take up a healthy lifestyle on the launch of the Fit India Movement

Conrad K Sangma, the Chief Minister of Meghalaya on the occasion of the Fit India Movement launched by the Prime Minister urged the citizens of the state to walk to their workplaces, school, and colleges at least once in a week. The chief minister also set an example by walking from his residence to the venue of the ‘Fit India Movement; function on Thursday.
The Chief Minister had announced that he will be walking from his official residence to his office every Wednesday and also urged the people to follow the same in their day to day lives. He also added that the people of the state are aware of fitness which has been a part of the tradition and culture of Meghalaya. He said that the problem is that in the day to day lives with the added responsibilities of a student, officer or a public leader people seldom find time for themselves and forget to take care of themselves in every aspect. Fit India Movement, he added is to remind the people to take out time in the daily lives to remain fit and active. Fitness is not just about the physical health but also the complete wellbeing and fitness of the physical, mental and spiritual health.
In a tweet, the Chief Minister also stated that he is confident that the Fit India Movement and the Fitness Pledge with the Prime Minister will motivate everyone and to practice a healthy lifestyle.
The Prime Minister on Thursday launched the Fit India Movement with an aim to take the country towards a healthier future. The Prime Minister in a ceremony including the presentation of the country’s martial art forms, dances and sports said that technology has contributed towards a sedentary lifestyle and the campaign is aimed at encouraging the people to indulge in physical activities and sports in their everyday lives.
