No sign of memorial for Parrikar at Miramar

It appears that the state government needs to tackle many issues for constructing a memorial for former chief minister late Manohar Parrikar at the Miramar beach where he was cremated on March 18, 2019.
Parrikar passed away on March 17, 2019, after suffering from pancreatic cancer for almost one year.
The general administration department (GAD) of the government is looking after memorials of eminent personalities. In the case of proposed memorial for the former Defence Minister and tallest leader of the state Bharatiya Janata Party, the state government is yet to come out with a concrete proposal.
Sources said that the proposal is in the initial stage and not yet moved for financial approval.
It may be recalled that current Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, soon after taking over the affairs of the state, had announced that the government would build a memorial for Parrikar, adjacent to another existing memorial for the first chief minister late Dayanand alias Bhausaheb Bandodkar.
Surprisingly, the area where the last rites of the former chief minister were performed has been covered with metal sheets. However, presently many such sheets have fallen off and the place has been exposed to stray animals.
Swayandipta Pal Chaudhuri, the chief executive officer of Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited (IPSCDL), on Monday said that the Manohar Parrikar memorial is in the domain of the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation, and the IPSCDL has no role in its construction.
