Rahul Gandhi greets MNREGA labourers' son who became first in his Rajasthan village to crack JEE Mains

ongress President Rahul Gandhi on Friday greeted 18-year-old Lekhraj Bheel, the son of an MGNREGA worker, for becoming the first in his tribal village in Rajasthan to pass the JEE mains examination
Lekhraj's father Mangilal Bheel and mother Sardari Bai are MGNREGA workers and till around two years back, they didn't know what an engineer does and certainly hadn't heard of the JEE Main exam, said a PTI report.
Bheel and his family belong to Rajasthan's Mogayabeeh Bhilan village in Jhalawar district.
As per a TOI report, Lekhraj cracked JEE Main with a rank of 10740 and wants to study engineering from any IIT.
The MGNREGA workers' son showed exceptional results in class 10 as well when he topped Rajasthan's Jhalawar district, scoring 93.83%.
Despite having no science and maths teacher at school, he scored 96 in maths and 97 in science -- all this while walking 6 km from his village to school every day.
The then-Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje gave him a laptop for his feat.
Lekhraj's class 10 marks impressed his school teachers who advised his family to send him to Kota for IIT coaching. But his family's poverty rendered them hopeless in this case.
Thus, his school teacher took him to meet a coaching institute director in Kota, Naveen Maheshwari. The latter gave him free admission along with food and accommodation.
There, Lekhraj continued his school education along with IIT coaching training in Kota.
"My parents have to work hard to feed the family. I want to complete engineering degree and take care of them," Lekhraj told PTI.
Lekhraj also said that he would like to raise awareness about education in his village where most people are illiterate and work as labourers.
