KCR to call on regional parties before 23 May to firm up federal front idea

With less than a fortnight left for Lok Sabha election results, Telangana chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao is likely to meet and contact various party leaders in his attempt to form a federal front of regional leaders. Rao, who met his Kerala counterpart Pinarayi Vijayan last week, left for Chennai on Sunday evening and is likely to meet Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) supremo M.K. Stalin in the coming days, said leaders from Rao’s Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS).
“He is definitely going to contact different leaders and talk about forming a federal front. But we don’t know the dates yet. What we want to do is to put forth our idea of a federal front and explain it to other parties," said a senior TRS leader, who did not want to be identified. He added that KCR was supposed to meet Stalin earlier, but that the meeting was postponed.
