Madurai hasn’t forgotten DMK’s atrocities: OPS

People of Madurai have not forgotten the atrocities unleashed on them during the DMK regime, said Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam.
Kicking off the election campaign for party candidate S. Muniyandi for the Tirupparankundram Assembly constituency by-election here on Thursday, he said people cannot forget the land grabbing spree during the DMK rule.
“Did not the Amma [Jayalalithaa] government help the people get back their properties?” he said. “DMK president M.K. Stalin has accused me and the Chief Minister of burning Tamil Nadu. The fact is that only during the DMK regime, three persons were killed when the office of the Tamil daily Dhinakaran was burnt in the DMK family feud,” he said.
Law and order deteriorated during the DMK rule and even the police were not allowed to discharge their duty, he charged.The Deputy Chief Minister said Tamil Nadu was the only State in the country which had a protective shield for the minorities. “This is a peaceful State without any caste or communal clashes,” he said.
