The Congress party on Sunday stated that the Bharatiya Janata Party’s delay in deciding the candidate for the Panaji bypoll clearly indicates that the Manohar Parrikar legacy and sympathy created out of his demise is a myth.
“The constant delay and deadlines set by the BJP to decide its candidate for the Panaji bypoll clearly indicates that the sympathy of Manohar Parrikar, which they were claiming to exist, was just a hype,” Goa Pradesh Congress Committee president Girish Chodankar said.
“If there existed a sympathy factor, then they would not have taken even a day to declare the candidate for the Panaji seat,” Chodankar said, adding that the BJP office bearers, who went around conducting survey about the Panaji by-election, have now realised that there is no acceptance for the party in the constituency after Parrikar miserably failed to deliver over the last 25 years.
