Be crusaders to protect nature, Venkaiah Naidu tells vet grads

Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu has appealed to the veterinary graduates to become crusaders to protect and conserve nature and all its life forms.
“As students of life sciences, you understand the nature of life better than anyone. I encourage you to put your knowledge to the best possible use and do the best you can to reverse the consequences of the damage we have caused to the environment,” was his piece of advice. Mr. Naidu was delivering his address at the eighth convocation of Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University (SVVU) here on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, he gave a clarion call to preserve the biodiversity, natural habitats, forests and oceans stating that they were being destroyed due to the reckless exploitation of natural resources and thoughtless disposal of waste.

Governor and SVVU Chancellor E.S.L. Narasimhan called upon veterinarians to exhibit love and compassion towards animals. He urged them to take their veterinary practice out of their clinics to the midst of cattle rearers. “The biggest challenge you face is to keep on top of changing standards, emerging trends and new drugs, therapies and treatments in the field.”
