Naidu defends holding review meetings

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday said that his review meetings with government officials were strictly to address issues such as drinking water crisis and problems faced by the farmers.
Speaking to the media after the inauguration of the NTR Trust-administered fourth blood bank here, Mr. Naidu rejected the allegations by political rivals that the meetings were in violation of the election code.
“Is the election code not applicable to other States and (Prime Minister) Narendra Modi?” he asked.
He said government functionaries, including Intelligence officials, were meeting the Prime Minister. Mr. Naidu said it was discriminatory on the part of the Election Commission to take action against an IAS officer over surveillance on the helicopter used by Mr. Modi.
