TMC manifesto targets Modi govt

While the Trinamool Congress’ election manifesto for 2014 put up what the party expected the new government to do for the country, this year, it has spent a big chunk of the manifesto in criticism of the ruling BJP and the biggest agenda of the party seems to be the removal of BJP from the Centre.
Of the 68-page manifesto the first 17 page of ‘Appeal’ by the party supremo Mamata Banerjee underlined how the BJP failed to make good of the promises it had made before ascending to power in 2014. From demonetisation to farmers’ suicide and the latest Pulwama terror attack, Mamata takes a potshot at the Modi government at several issues. The next section of eight pages is named ‘An account of Modi Government’s failures and misrule in the past five years’.
There she talks about several alleged scams pointwise and how the country has suffered on several fronts under the Modi government. Mamata highlights the ‘failure of Make in India’ and alleges that under the present dispensation, the growth of the country has declined. She also alleges in this section that the PM had made baseless claims of success in several areas. Even the inside front and back covers contain anti-BJP slogans.
