‘People lose confidence in politicians switching parties’

People were losing confidence in political leaders who switched parties frequently, said Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu, when his view was sought on students entering politics. Mr. Venkaiah, who inaugurated the Centre of Excellence for Manufacturing at the Vel Tech Rangarajan Dr. Sagunthala R&D Institute of Science and Technology on Wednesday, urged students to study politics, observe the leaders and then take a decision on joining politics. “Politics was, once upon a time, a mission. You must follow clean politics and know the contributions made by great Parliamentarians. Anybody joining politics must have four Cs — character, calibre, capacity and conduct. Some people are trying to replace these with caste, community, cash and criminality,” he said.
