Description:
Arvind Kejriwal was born on 16-08-1968. He is a social activist and politician. He is the CM designate of Delhi as his party AAP won 67 of the 70 assembly seats of Delhi. He launched the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in 2012. A former Indian Revenue Service officer, he is better known for his key role in drafting the Jan Lokpal Bill.

Career:

Arvind Kejriwal is an Indian anti-corruption activist turned politician and is the 7th Chief Minister of Delhi. He is the National Convener of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), a political party that was launched in November 2012. Kejriwal had been a social activist long before he entered the world of politics and his main motive of venturing into this field was so that he could serve the country.

As a teenager, he had trouble deciding which career to pursue: medicine or engineering. Eventually, he decided to go for engineering and set his eyes on entering the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). Stubbornly refusing to give the entrance exam at any other college, he appeared only for the IIT entrance—and cleared it at the first try. As a student, he realized that his passion lay not in making money, but in serving his country. He started working for the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) and also became involved in social activism. His involvement in the ‘Parivartan’ movement earned him a Ramon Magsaysay Award for Emergent Leadership.

Later on, he became involved with Anna Hazare in his India Against Corruption (IAC) movement following which he launched the Aam Aadmi Party. He became the Chief Minister of Delhi in December 2013 but resigned after just 49 days.

Positions held:

2012 to Present: National Convener of AAP
2013 to 2014: MLA of New Delhi (Delhi NCR)
2013 to2014: Chief Minister of Delhi NCR
2015 to Present: MLA of New Delhi (Delhi NCR)
2015 to Present Chief Minister M of Delhi NCR

Controversies:
Kejriwal and his colleagues are facing multiple probes from the Delhi Police, CBI, Income Tax, Punjab Police and the Election Commission. The Delhi government’s own anti-corruption branch is investigating graft charges against them. The AAP has often accused the Centre of launching a witch-hunt against them; refusing to let their government work. Delhi Police have arrested at least 14 AAP MLAs on allegations such as rape, forgery, molestation and abetment to suicide. Three of its MLAs have been acquitted, and an investigation is pending in other cases. It isn’t just a police probe. Kejriwal is facing trial in at least four defamation cases, including a criminal defamation case filed by finance minister Arun Jaitley. If convicted, the CM could be sent to prison, for the offence.

AAP founder members Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan were sacked by the party in April 2015 for "anti-party" activities after they questioned party supremo Arvind Kejriwal's style of functioning.

AAP founder members Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan were sacked by the party in April 2015 for "anti-party" activities after they questioned party supremo Arvind Kejriwal's style of functioning.

When Aam Aadmi Party announced its nominees for elections to three Delhi Rajya Sabha seats that it will win, its senior leader Kumar Vishwas went public with his battle against party chief and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, saying he has been "punished for speaking the truth.” Kumar Vishwas' supporters had picketed the party office demanding that their leader, who founded AAP along with Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, be sent to parliament. But his frequent run-ins with Mr Kejriwal, who accuses Mr Vishwas of plotting to overthrow him as AAP chief, cancelled the chances of the poet-politician.

In last few years during the election campaign, Arvind Kejriwal raised so many allegations on Arun Jaitley, Kapil Sibbal, Vikram Majthiya and so many other leaders. Jaitly, Sibbal, Majthiya and many other leaders filed a defamation case against Kejriwal. But these three name (Jaitly, Sibbal, Majthiya) are very important. Because in March 2018, Kejriwal presented an apology latter in the court against the defamation cases filed by Arun Jaitley, Kapil Sibbal and Vikram Majethiya. This apology letter created so many controversies in Aam Adami Party’s top leadership.
