Congress MP Rahul Gandhi had remarked last week that fishermen needed a separate ministry to attend to their needs.
Ahead of the April 6 Assembly elections in Puducherry, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has hit back during campaigning.
Shah mocked him for not knowing that the Centre had started the fisheries department two years ago. He said that Rahul was unaware of this because he was "on leave".
Amit Shah was referring to his abroad trip and asked, "The party whose leader is not aware of this department, can that party take care of the progress of Puducherry?"
Letting you know, PM Modi also expressed shock over Rahul Gandhi not aware of a fisheries ministry that is being set up by his govt in 2019.
