Supreme court refuses judicial inquiry into R-Day violence, says govt should take action

  • The farmers' resistance to the agricultural laws continues. In the meantime, the Supreme Court has refused a hearing on January 26th violence.
  • The Supreme Court said, "We will not interfere in this matter, the government itself should investigate the matter and take action against the culprits."
  • The bench of Chief Justice SA Bobde said, "We have read that the government is investigating vandalism and violence, we have also seen the statement of PM Modi."
  • In the petition filed in the SC, it was demanded that the inquiry team of the retired judge and two judges of the High Court should be formed to investigate the whole matter.
