The central government has sanctioned Rs 15,000 Crores for COVID-19 emergency response and health system preparedness package for states.
The focus area of this package would be the development of diagnostics, COVID-19 dedicated treatment facilities.
It will also focus on the centralized procurement of essential medical equipment and drugs required for the treatment of infected patients.
To support prevention and preparedness for the future the package will also focus on strengthening and building resilient national and state health systems.
According to the latest updates, India has reported 5,865 positive cases of coronavirus including 169 deaths.
