The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Wednesday decided to close all government offices till April 14, except those providing essential services.
There is heavy deployment of police and paramilitary forces to ensure compliance of the 21-day countrywide lockdown in UT.
Most highways, streets and pedestrian malls were kept in tight security.
People have also taken a pledge to ensure that they remain indoors to break the chain of coronavirus infection.
Till now the union territory has reported seven positive cases of COVID-19.
