NRC and CAA won't be implemented in West Bengal: Mamata Banerjee

  • On Friday, CM Mamata Banerjee announced statewide protests from Monday, against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA). 
     
  • She said, "We told the BJP govt at the Centre not to play with fire. They say they will forcibly implement CAA and NRC." 
     
  • Banerjee further said, "I would like to state categorically again that NRC and CAA won't be implemented in West Bengal."

  • Mamata Banerjee also said, "You can pass a law, but it is up to the state govt to implement it. How can they enforce it? In WB, our government won't do it. No NRC, no CAA."
     
  • She also said that she would cancel her meeting proposed meeting in Delhi next week to be with the "people of the state."
