CM Uddhav Thackeray directed the state home dept to withdraw the criminal cases registered against 29 citizens for protesting over the felling of trees in Aarey forest.
The Mumbai police commissioner has been told to submit all documents related to the matter to the home dept on Monday.
One of the officials said, “The CM has directed the administration to withdraw the cases.”

Thackeray has also directed chief secretary Ajoy Mehta to examine all the cases and follow due process of law for withdrawing them.
Reiterating that he is not stopping the Mumbai Metro Project, CM also ordered that this process should be completed in a time-bound period.
