Rajya Sabha MP KC Ramamurthy Quits Congress, Set to join BJP

  • Rajya Sabha member from Karnataka, KC Ramamurthy announced he has quit as MP and Congress in a bid to be part BJP.
     
  • He said that he resigned from the Congress of his own choice and denied pressure from BJP to switch sides. 
     
  • The resignation of Ramamurthy struck the party’s Karnataka unit as a bolt as it came with zero hints.

  • With the exit of Ramamurthy, the Congress tally in the Rajya Sabha stands at 45.
