Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said that Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH)  needs to take an international approach to make Guwahati a healthcare hub of South East Asia.
 
He urged the authorities to take advantage of the Act East Policy in achieving this goal.
 
Sonowal was speaking as the chief guest during the 59th anniversary of the college held in Guwahati at GMCH auditorium.
 
He further informed that 19 cancer hospitals are also coming up in Assam as a joint initiative of state government and Tata Trusts.
 
The CM also urged the medical fraternity to create awareness against the drug menace among the patients.
