Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister and Chairman of Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA), gave nod to the annual budget of NMRDA for the year 2019-20. The budget of Rs 1,529.84 crore has financial provisions for various ongoing projects. Also, the Chief Minister approved a policy for online draw for housing allotment under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). It was the fifth meeting of NMRDA. Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Guardian Minister of Nagpur district; Yogesh Sagar, Minister of State for Urban Development; Nanda Jichkar, Mayor of Nagpur; Dr Milind Mane, North Nagpur MLA; Abhijit Bangar, Municipal Commissioner of Nagpur; Sheetal Teli Ugale, Chairperson of NIT and NMRDA, were present prominently in the meeting held at Mumbai on Thursday. The NMRDA budget for 2019-20 approved in the meeting has several components.
The major components and financial provisions include Rs 422 crore for PMAY, Rs 221 crore for Koradi development, Rs 132 crore for Tajbag development, Rs 114 crore for Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Convention Centre in Indora, Rs 109 crore for development of Deekshabhoomi, Rs 41 crore for Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Memorial at Chicholi, Rs 58 crore for Sant Chokhamela Students’ Hostel etc. One more major provision is of Rs 100 crore for beautification of Futala lakeside and light-and-sound show at Swami Vivekananda Statue located at Ambazari spill-over point.
As far as implementation of PMAY is concerned, Fadnavis granted approval to a policy for online draw for allotment of housing units under the scheme. As per the norms, the reservation in allotment of housing units will be as follows: 11 per cent for Scheduled Castes, six per cent for Scheduled Tribes, five per cent for Divyangs, two per cent for NIT employees, and five per cent for Government employees. If the adequate number of eligible beneficiaries are not found for the given categories of reservation, the remaining number of housing units from these categories will be made available for General category beneficiaries through draw of lots. So far, there was a ceiling of Rs 25 crore for sanctioning bills from NMRDA funds for works done under PMAY. In the meeting, the ceiling was raised to Rs 100 crore.
