Maharashtra Congress wants Rahul Gandhi to select new Leader of Opposition

Maharashtra Congress passed a one line resolution on Monday giving right to Congress president Rahul Gandhi to choose the Leader of Opposition (LoP) after resignation of Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil.
Senior Congress leader and Congress observer for Maharashtra Mallikarjun Kharge spoke with all the Congress MLAs to understand their views. Congress MLA Vijay Wadettiwar, Babasaheb Thorat and former Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan are in race for this Leader of Opposition post while Wadettiwar has been called the front runner. Maharashtra Congress president Ashok Chavan has extended support of his loyalist MLA to Wadettiwar in this meeting. Kharge spoke with each Congress MLA. The meeting was not attended by Vikhe-Patil, Nitesh Rane and Kalidas Kolamkar who is on BJP way.
