Rivers in western T.N. in spate as dams reach capacity

Two persons including a woman were killed in floods and landslips that occurred in different parts of Coimbatore in the last two days, while rivers in western Tamil Nadu remained in spate, as water levels in various dams reached capacity, following inflow of water from the neighbouring States of Karnataka and Kerala.
G. Vigneshwaran, 36, an assistant engineer attached to Sholayar Dam Power House II, died after being trapped in a landslip that occurred on a private road near the power house on Thursday afternoon. A. Velankanni, A 42-year-old woman, was washed away in the flood waters near Manamboli power house on Wednesday night.
