Gujarat to form Sanskrit Bhasha Vikas Board

In order to promote the Sanskrit language, the state government has decided to form the Sanskrit Bhasha Vikas Board. The decision was announced by state education minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama at an event held at the Gujarat University.
While the decision has been welcomed by academicians, some have criticised and questioned the intention behind such a move. Confirming the same, Chudasama said: "To promote the language, which is so rich and recognised by countries world over, we have decided to form the Sanskrit Bhasha Vikas Board. Not only this, we will be celebrating a Sanskrit Utsav, which will begin from Raksha Bandhan and have various activities around the language. Through this board, we do not wish to make the language mandatory, but there are a lot of people who have interest in the language, but do not know where to obtain knowledge. It is a very holy language and a 'Sanskari' language. Sanskrit language has solutions to most of the bigger issues that we are facing today. It is also the mother of all languages."
