'This is a loot'- Jairam Ramesh on a proposal to privatise ONGC's oil and fields
- The petroleum ministry had proposed to give away ONGC's biggest oil and gas fields to foreign companies.
- The officers union has strongly opposed this proposal, saying that the govt should instead empower.
- Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has called it a "loot". He said, "Soviets said Bombay High could be promising."
- Jairam said, "Americans lobbied for drilling contracts. But for Indira Gandhi, self-reliance was crucial."
- "ONGC was given the task, it did a superb job & took it further. Now, PM wants to sell these assets to foreign cos. This is loot, plain & simple", he said.
