- The place was highlighted for the alleged exodus of Hindu families from the area due to local Muslim criminal gangs ahead of the 2017 assembly elections.

- CM Yogi's visit to the place can be seen as an attempt by the BJP to restore the issue ahead of the 2022 assembly elections.
