Govt's big Diwali gift- Excise duty on Petrol reduced by Rs 5, diesel by Rs 10
- The Centre has given a big gift to the common man ahead of Diwali.
- Sources said that the gift has reduced the excise duty of petrol by Rs 5 and diesel by Rs 10.
- These rates will be applicable from Thursday, Diwali, which will be a huge relief to the general public.
- This is also being considered as a big relief for the farmers, as they will be able to get diesel at low prices for the coming Rabi crop.
- The central govt has also asked the states to reduce VAT on petrol and diesel.
