
700 detained after killing of 7 civiliants in Jammu & Kashmir
- Security forces have detained over 700 people in response to the killing of seven civilians, including people from Kashmiri Pandit, Sikh and Muslim communities in J&K.
- Many of those detained are believed to have links with the banned Jamaat-e-Islami group or are on the list of suspected overground workers (OGWs).
- They belong to Srinagar, Ganderbal, Budgam and other areas of South Kashmir.
- A senior police officer said that he has been "detained in connection with the attacks in the (Kashmir) Valley".
- The official also said that the rise in radicalization after the return of the Taliban to power could also lead to attacks.
