Karnataka Health Minister Dr. K. Sudhakar claimed on Sunday that modern Indian women want to be single.
He said that they are unwilling to give birth to a child even after marriage and are not willing to give birth to a child through 'surrogacy'.
He said this at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) on World Mental Health Day.
Sudhakar said, "Today, I would like to apologize for saying that a large number of modern women in India want to be single."
He blamed the "influence of western countries" on Indian society for this and said that people do not want their parents to live with them.
