Strange statement by Karnataka minister on 'modern Indian women'

  • Karnataka Health Minister Dr. K. Sudhakar claimed on Sunday that modern Indian women want to be single.
  • He said that they are unwilling to give birth to a child even after marriage and are not willing to give birth to a child through 'surrogacy'.
  • He said this at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) on World Mental Health Day.
  • Sudhakar said, "Today, I would like to apologize for saying that a large number of modern women in India want to be single."
  • He blamed the "influence of western countries" on Indian society for this and said that people do not want their parents to live with them.
