
Adani Group gets operation of Guwahati airport amid Air India sale
- Guwahati's popular Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport was handed over to the Adani Group amid the sale of state-run airline Air India.
- At a midnight function, airport director Ramesh Kumar handed over the symbolic key to Adani Group's airport officer Utpal Barua.
- According to a release issued by the Airports Authority of India, the Adani Group will now be responsible for the operation, management and development of the airport.
- It is worth noting that the six airports that were handed over to private hands by the Government of India in 2018 include Guwahati, Lucknow, Mangalore, Jaipur, Ahmedabad and Thiruvananthapuram.
- Protesters shouted slogans against this decision outside the airport on Friday, a mass signature campaign was also conducted in protest in the past.
