Supreme Court held a hearing in the Lakhimpur violence case today in which questions were raised on the UP govt.
CJI questioned, "Why the accused was being treated differently in the murder case?"
It said that the charge is of murder, so treat the accused like other people in other cases.
The CI asked, What message are you sending? Even under normal circumstances, the police will not arrest the accused immediately?"
It told the UP govt that the case cannot be given to CBI due to the people involved in it.
