A shocking incident has come to the fore from the Yadgir district of Karnataka.
A woman was burnt alive by a man after she resisted a rape attempt by him.
The accused has been identified as Gangappa Basappa, who forcefully went to the victim's house in Surpur taluk.
He then tried to rape her around 2 am on Monday. When she resisted, he doused her with petrol and set her on fire.
The woman sustained 95 % burn injuries. She was rushed to the hospital when she succumbed to injuries.
