
Bengal by-election: Mamata Banerjee wins Bhawanipur seat, defeating BJP candidate by 58,832 votes
- West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has registered a big victory in the assembly by-elections from the Bhawanipur assembly seat.
- He defeated BJP's candidate Priyanka Tibrewal by a margin of 58,832 votes. This victory is bigger than her winning figure in 2011.
- BJP candidate Priyanka Tibrewal has got less than 20 thousand votes. CPM's Shreejib was left far behind.
- In two seats also, the candidates of Mamata's party Trinamool Congress are leading.
- TMC's Zakir Hussain is leading from the Jangipur seat, while BJP's Sujit Das is at number two, while TMC's Amirul Islam is leading in the Samsherganj seat.
