
Over 8,62,500 jobs were lost during both waves of Covid pandemic in Assam- Study
- Nowgong College has conducted a study that said that over 8,62,500 jobs have been lost in Assam during the pandemic.
- This data is of both the waves of the Covid 19 pandemic. Due to curfew and lockdown, livelihoods were also seriously affected.
- According to the study, over 20% of the workforce in the state, which has 16 lakh registered educated unemployed, took up new jobs to survive.
- Daily wagers, owners of small grocery shops and fruit and vegetable vendors also lost their livelihood.
