'Appoint everyone in two weeks', CJI upset over selective appointments in tribunals
- The former Union Minister Jairam Ramesh had filed a petition in the Supreme Court challenging the Tribunal Reforms Act.
- The court has expressed strong displeasure at the Central Government and said that its recommendation will be selected selectively from the list.
- It said, "Why are the appointments being made?" The Court has now directed the Central Govt to appoint all the recommended persons within two weeks and file counter-affidavits.
- During this, there was a heated argument with the Attorney General and other judges including the CJI.
- The SC has expressed displeasure over the appointments to the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) and the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT).
