Madhya Pradesh: Ramayana and Mahabharata will be taught in engineering, Congress targets the govt
- Students doing engineering in Madhya Pradesh will now have to read Ramayana and Mahabharata as well.
- This has been decided by the Shivraj Singh Chouhan govt and has been criticized by the main opposition party Congress of the state.
- Criticizing this decision, the Madhya Pradesh Congress unit has appealed to the BJP govt of the state to promote secularism in educational institutions.
- Congress MLA Arif Masood said, "He has mentioned Ramayana and Mahabharata, but he should also include Quran, Bible and Guru Granth Sahib in the syllabus."
- Masood said, "India is a country which keeps all religions together. It is a secular nation. It will not only protect the constitution but will also clarify the intention of the govt."
