
Modi govt refuses to file an affidavit on Pegasus issue, judge said - 'interim order is the only option'
- A hearing in the Pegasus espionage case was held in the Supreme Court on Monday. The central government refused to file an affidavit in this case.
- Modi govt said, "This issue is not for public discussion, we are in favor of setting up a panel to investigate the allegations of espionage."
- Chief Justice of India NV Ramanna was not satisfied with the govt's response. He said, "We have to know whether anyone can use spyware."
- The judge said, "If the govt does not give information related to Pegasus through affidavit, then we will have to pass an interim order."
- Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said that all the software is used by security and military agencies to investigate terrorist activities.
