SC to examine new reservation policy with 27% for OBC, 10% for EWS in medical courses, notice to Center

  • The Supreme Court will examine the new reservation policy of 27 % seats for OBCs and 10% for EWS in the All India Quota for medical and dental courses.
  • The Supreme Court on Monday issued a notice to the Center and sought its response. A bench of Justice DY Chandrachud said that it will have to be investigated.
  • In July, the central govt has implemented 27 percent reservation for OBCs for medical admissions and economically weaker section.
  • After the announcement of the central government, the new reservation policy has been implemented from this year itself.
  • With this decision of the Center, every year about 1500 OBC students will get benefit in MBBS and 2500 OBC students in post-graduation and 550 EWS students in MBBS and about 1000 EWS students in post-graduation.
