- His son Kushan Mitra has given this information by tweeting. Mitra was 65 years old and had been ill for a few days.
- Kushan tweeted, "Since he is already out, father passed away late last night. He was ill for some time."
- PM Narendra Modi has also condoled his death and paid tribute to him. He tweeted, "Shri Chandan Mitra ji will be remembered for his wisdom and insight."
- He added, "He made a mark in the media as well as in the world of politics. Saddened by his passing. Condolences to his family and fans. om Shanti."
