Number of subscribers of Atal Pension Yojana crosses 3.30 crore, 28 lakh new accounts opened in FY22

  • The number of subscribers of the APY, a social security scheme launched for the people of the unorganized sector, has crossed the 3.30 crore mark by August 25.
  • The Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) gave this information on Wednesday.
  • PFRDA said in the statement that more than 28 lakh new APY accounts have been opened in the current financial year.
  • This scheme was started by PM Narendra Modi on 9 May 2015. Its main target is the unorganized sector.
  • Any citizen of 18 to 40 years who has a savings account in a bank or post office can join this scheme.
