'If US exceeds deadline to withdraw troops, there will be consequences', warns Taliban

  • The Taliban, who have occupied Afghanistan, has issued a warning about the deadline to withdraw US troops.
  • A Taliban spokesman told Sky News that it would not be acceptable to the Taliban to extend the deadline of August 31 to withdraw US troops, if it is delayed then there will be consequences.
  • In an interview, Taliban spokesman Suhail Shaheen said, "You can say that this is the red line."
  • Shaheen said, "If the US or UK wants to ask for additional time to continue the evacuation - then the answer is no and the consequences will have to be faced."
  • Earlier on Monday, Britain said that it would urge the US to extend the deadline for the "complete evacuation" of Western citizens and American allies from Kabul.
