Delhi riots: Umar Khalid's bail plea to be heard today, arrested under UAPA
- The bail plea of former JNU student leader Umar Khalid, who was arrested under UAPA in the Delhi riots case, will be heard in the capital court today.
- Khalid was arrested in September last year. His bail plea was to be heard on August 20, but due to a petition moved for an early hearing, it was postponed to August 18.
- However, on August 18, Additional Sessions Judge Amitabh Rawat adjourned the hearing of the case till August 23.
- Earlier in July, when the bail plea of Umar Khalid was heard, the Delhi Police opposed the petition by saying that there was no merit in it.
- It is known that the court has granted bail to Umar Khalid in another case of the Delhi riots. While granting bail, the court had said that it will jail Umar for a long time just because other accused in the case are to be identified.
