As soon as the Taliban took control of Afghanistan, Devi Sharan was reminded of the past.
Devi Sharan was the captain of Air India flight IC 814 that was hijacked in December 1999 and taken to Taliban-ruled Kandahar.
He said that there has been no change in the scenes in Afghanistan (as seen on TV).
Sharan said, "I don't think there has been any difference in 20 years. The only difference now is that they seem a little educated now."
He further added, "The people who surrounded our plane were not polished. The kind of treatment we faced 20 years ago, it's hard to believe what the future holds."
