
Central government abolished 4% reservation quota in government jobs
- The central government has removed the quota of four per cent reservation for the disabled in jobs.
- According to gazette notifications, the government has exempted certain establishments from the purview of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.
- Under this act, the differently-abled used to get four percent reservation in appointments in units like police force, railway protection force, which has now been abolished.
- In the first of these notifications, the govt has notified all categories of posts under the Indian Police Service, Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, etc.
- Others include Lakshadweep, Daman and Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli Police Service for all categories of posts and the Indian Railway Protection Force Service.
