Calcutta High Court gives a big blow to CM Mamata, CBI to investigate the violence after the election

  • The Calcutta High Court on Thursday handed over the investigation of the post-poll violence to the CBI, giving a setback to CM Mamata Banerjee. The High Court has said that the cases of murder and rape will be investigated by the CBI, while other cases will be investigated by the SIT.
  • High Court said, "Senior officers of Bengal cadre will be part of the team for SIT investigation. At the same time, the CBI will investigate only under the supervision of the court."
  • Reacting to the decision, BJP General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya said, "The court's order has exposed the government. We welcome the court order."
  • TMC leader Saugata Roy said, "I am unhappy with the decision, every law which is within the jurisdiction of the state govt, CBI comes in it then it is a violation of the authority of the state."
