Threat to IMA: Accused of the wrong forecast, farmer leaders of MP will go to court
- Farmer leaders of the Malwa region of Madhya Pradesh have accused the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) of issuing wrong forecasts.
- They said that due to the wrong claims of the department, they have suffered losses in the production of major crops in recent times. They are contemplating filing a court case in this matter.
- A senior scientist of the IMD has said that farmers may be getting confused as a private weather agency had issued an early monsoon forecast this year, while the IMD had issued the opposite.
- He also said that farmers should keep in mind whether the information they are getting is true or not.
- Bharat Singh Chauhan, spokesperson of Malwa province of the Indian Farmers Association has said that in most cases the forecasts of the Meteorological Department are failing.
