Sunanda Pushkar death case: Shashi Tharoor acquitted in Delhi court

  • Former Union Minister and Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, who was made an accused in the Sunanda Pushkar death case, has been acquitted by a Delhi court.
  • Sunanda Pushkar was Tharoor's wife. On January 17, 2014, Sunanda Pushkar died mysteriously in a five-star hotel in Delhi.
  • A few days before his death, Sunanda had alleged that Tharoor had links with a Pakistani female journalist.
  • In Sunanda's death case, Delhi Police had made Shashi Tharoor an accused and registered a case against him under sections 307, 498A of the IPC.
  • But seven years later, the Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi acquitted Tharoor of all charges. After getting relief from the court, Tharoor said that he had spent seven and a half years in torture.
