CBI release the 'cage' parrot - Madras HC's big remark during the hearing in an old case
- During the hearing of coalfield allocation cases in the year 2013, the Madras High Court made a big comment about the CBI.
- The High Court on Tuesday, while directing the Central Govt, said that there is a need to give more autonomy to the 'cage' CBI.
- "According to the opposition, the CBI has become a political tool in the hands of the BJP-led central government", the High Court said.
- The court said, "CBI should have autonomy like the Comptroller and Auditor General, which is answerable only to Parliament."
- The court said that the autonomy of the agency will be ensured only when it is given statutory status.
