Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Virendra Kumar introduced the 127th Constitutional Amendment Bill related to the OBC reservation in the Lok Sabha.
All the parties including the opposition Congress supported this bill. Now this bill will be passed by Rajya Sabha and will go to the President.
The 127th Constitution Amendment Bill will amend clauses 1 and 2 of Article 342A of the Constitution and will also add a new clause 3.
Apart from this, this bill will also be able to amend Articles 366 (26c) and 338B (9) of the Constitution.
The 127th Amendment Bill is designed to make it clear that states and UTs will be free to make "state lists" of SEBCs.
