States will get the right to make OBC list, constitution amendment bill to be presented in Lok Sabha today
- The central government has indicated to make necessary changes to give the states the right to make the list of Other Backward Classes i.e, OBC.
- For this, the Constitution Amendment Bill will be introduced in the monsoon session of Parliament on Monday.
- It was approved by the Union Cabinet last week. This can clear the way for Maratha reservation in Maharashtra.
- Along with this, the ongoing dilemmas regarding reservation in other states can also end.
- However, it will be a big challenge for the govt to pass this Constitution Amendment Bill amidst constant uproar by the opposition in the Monsoon Session of Parliament.
